Extreme Coding - AS2 to AS3 crash course
I'm currently working on a contract at a big company, and get to work on "high profile" websites. The websites are all Flash based and are loaded with interactivity with the graphics being top notch. I was hired as an ActionScript 2 Flash Developer. Recently we started a new site, but this time the requirement is to do the website in ActionScript 3. Although AS3 is just the next generation of AS2, there are still a significant differences, which makes learning the changes in a two week period while being required to deliver a major Flash website a sizable task. That's where Extreme Coding comes in. My definition of Extreme Coding is:
coding for 80+ hours in one week
It is quite an experience and leaves you in a sort of dopey, but wired state, where you can barely say your name, but you can type your way out of any situation. I don't recommend it if you don't have to do it, but if you have to, then make sure to keep yourself really hydrated and fed regularly. Don't forget to occasionally get up from behind your desk and even sometimes venture outside for some fresh air. If you are going to deprive your body of sleep and relaxing time, at least give yourself as much clean air and water as possible to keep the mind fresh.
